About Phil Johnson, P.E.
Phil Johnson, P.E. is the principal of PAJ Forensic Engineering, a registered engineering firm based in Texas. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas, Tennessee, Idaho, Montana, and North Carolina, and holds a degree in engineering from Texas A&M University. With over 30 years of experience in engineering and technology, Mr. Johnson has held positions ranging from Design Engineer to Vice President at major firms including Honeywell, Siemens, and Wood Group Mustang.

Mr. Johnson is an ACTAR-Accredited Traffic Accident Reconstructionist and has been formally recognized as a Traffic Crash Reconstruction Professional by Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety. He has completed extensive training in accident reconstruction through the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and is certified in the analysis of Event Data Recorder (EDR) "Black Box" systems.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Johnson has conducted numerous crash investigations and reconstructions, along with hundreds of post-incident forensic analyses using photographic, videographic, and onboard performance data. His deep technical understanding is further supported by over 30 years of hands-on experience building, modifying, and racing cars and motorcycles. He holds competitive racing licenses with six different motorsport organizations and has designed, built, and driven record-holding vehicles. He also operates a popular automobile repair YouTube channel with over 350,000 viewers, where he shares technical insights with a global audience.

Mr. Johnson’s background extends beyond accident reconstruction into industrial safety, automation, and operator training. He has worked extensively in upstream oil and gas, refining, chemical processing, pipelines, and power generation, where he has helped clients automate and safeguard operations and improve the capabilities of their personnel. He is a recognized expert in automated control systems, safety systems, and operator training technologies, and has authored several publications on the use of artificial intelligence, process simulators, and training platforms in industrial settings.
